Hand build ceramic box with matcha green glaze inspired RM's song Seoul. Seoul, is about the contrast of the city. crazy during the day quiet at night. It is about my love for the city lights at night.
The box is glazed in panels of black and a blue color thats breaks away in a brown color at the edges. The black represents the night and the blue panels visualise the sky scrapers of Seoul.
This box can be used to store coins, earrings or rings, or other small things to treasure. This box is hand-formed with the kurinuki technique. Kurinuki means " to hollow" in Japanese. It is a traditional technique where you carve away the clay from a solid block and that way shape the object.
I use kurinuki to make chawans, cups and boxes. The process is slow, meditative and results in one of a kind pieces.
