about me and my ceramics
Welcome to my shop filled with ceramics made in my tiny pottery studio in the back yard.
My name is Karlijn and I've been a potter (or ceramics artist) for about 5 years. Some things you could like to know:
- All my ceramics are made by hand, this means my pots and jars are not perfect. I love seeing the marks of the maker and the imperfection of the glaze.
- Because every piece is hand made they will vary in size, color and shape.
- The cups are thrown on the wheel and the moon jars are hand build and wheel thrown, chawans and the boxes are hand build.
I hope you love these perfectly imperfect ceramics as much as I do.

Most of my pieces are influenced by the Korean band BTS.
- Their message, lyrics, wordplay and style keep inspired me to experiment with form, color and textures.
- Early 2020 I stared making ceramics and simultaneously fell into the k-pop rabbit hole. After a few months of working with clay I ran out of inspiration. I didn’t want to make another cup and “just” put a nice glaze on it. Watching BTS’s Blood Sweat & Tears music video touched a creative nerve and was the real start of creative journey.
- Of course you do not need to like BTS to like my ceramics. But if you don’t know them, please look them up.
BTS keeps inspiring me and helped my find my artistic voice.

Making ceramics is not super eco friendly, but I try my best to makes them as low waste as possible. And if you love and care for my pieces they are super durable.
- My ceramics are made of clay and fired to stoneware at 1220 degrees Celsius in an electric kiln. I never bisque fire my pots but raw fire them to save energy and because I’m lazy and impatient.
- Like most potters I reclaim my clay and use the reclaim for new pieces. And I clean my brushed in a " glaze bucket" to separate glaze waste water for recycling.
- My packaging is recycled from packages I've received and new packaging is as eco friendly as possible.
My stoneware cups can be put in the dish washer or oven. But they love it even more if you wash them by hand, that only takes 30 seconds and they will last longer.
