The chawan is used in tea ceremonies all over East Asia. There are many types of chawan, it is really nice to dive into the chawan wikipedia page if you want to lean more. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eThe chawan is perfect to drink matcha out of, the wide opening gives the chasen (matcha whisk) the room to move.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eKurinuki means ‘to hollow’ in Japanese. It is a traditional technique where you carve\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eaway the clay\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003efrom a solid block and shape the object. I use kurinuki to make chawans, cups and boxes.
